Apostolic

The Reformed Episcopal Church holds a high view of Holy Scripture, knowing that the Church of Jesus Christ is "built upon the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the Chief Cornerstone."

Biblical

The chief source of prophetic and apostolic teaching is the Holy Scriptures. For that reason we are very careful to "hear, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them." Much of our liturgy is taken directly from Holy Scripture, and we hear the public reading of Scripture in all our services. Regular Scripture reading is essential for knowing God as He is. We are especially mindful of this in an age when many churches write off the Bible as an error-ridden collection of myths. Modern theologians and bishops take pride in setting aside the most basic tenets of Christian belief and in marginalizing Scripture.

Ancient

Although the Reformed Episcopal Church was founded in 1873, it stands in a tradition that goes back to the earliest times. As evangelical Anglicans, we hold the ancient creeds of the Church, the Apostles' and the Nicene. We strive to emulate the faith and life of the fathers, and to learn the wisdom they gained in controversy and persecution.

Reformed

Here is a word that takes on several meanings. The first addresses our tie to the English Reformation. We are a church in the Reformed tradition, and we use the Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion as the doctrinal expression of our church. We are also reformed in our liturgy, which was refined by Archbishop Thomas Cranmer during the earliest part of the Reformation. The English church at that time returned to and rescued its rich, ancient heritage. The Reformation did not rebel against tradition, nor create something completely new. Rather, it restored to the Church what was rightfully hers.

Evangelical

The Reformed Episcopal Church is evangelical in the sense that we stress the need for each church member to walk personally with the Lord. That includes regular private prayer; regular reading and meditation on the Bible, and bearing witness to the gospel by words and deeds.

An Invitation

We hope your curiosity has been piqued, and that you will continue to investigate our church. It is our hope that you will join us in bringing back to the church the characteristics lost or clouded in our present age.

Still, the best way to understand our church is to join us in worship. We are located at 1702 Fairhaven avenue in Santa Ana, (in Waverley Church). The church is located in front of the Fairhaven Memorial Park, one half mile east of Grand Ave. We celebrate Holy Communion every Sunday. Thank you for your time and interest. May God bless you in your search.
